It was wee hours of the morning, all of us gathered at Kim's house waiting for the cabbie to arrive. Destination ? KLIA boarding on flight to the earlier planned Langkawi trip. The Limo Cabbie arrived at around 7.45am where the last of the group to arrive was me and SP around 7.30am just in time ! Baggage rounded on the floors were loaded onto the limo, everyone were packing lite with just a simple backpack. Since Langkawi is a duty free island, it is advisable to pack lite and return loaded with Chocolates and Alcohols xD
Heading towards Kim's House^^
Baggage rounded on floor
Limo heading to KLIA
Reached KLIA on time despite the driver was driving abit tad slow. Proceed to check-in our baggage and secure our seating on the flight. The counter stewardess was a very helpful and friendly one. Trying her best to answer every doubts and questions regarding do's and don’ts during flight. To our surprise, it was only 9am where our flight only departs on 9.45am. We decided to grab some breakfast instead, round we go looking for suitable eateries. Kim and EJ ^^
Pretty Staff that served us^^
Looking at the Pretty Staff !?
In the end, we ended up visiting uncle McD in KLIA lol. It is still morning thus only breakfast meals are served. We got ourselves the Breakfast McValue Meal with the selection of sausage mcmuffin coupled with Premium Roast Coffee and mini Hash Browns. It was promotion period i think, each McValue Meal gets a free small box of Nestle Cornflakes. It was about time to board on our flight as soon as most of us were done with our breakfast. The timing was just right, a premonition of a good start i guess ^^ Act normal their turn to meet pretty staff
Free Nestle CornFlakes!
Premium Roast Coffee^^
The flight was ready to be boarded as soon we reached the boarding gates. Got into our designated seats and as usual, a selection of newspapers were available for our reading. A courtesy from MAS Airlines which never fails, credits to MAS. The flight was actually delayed about 20-30mins as according to the Captain of the flight, they are waiting for a few more passengers from a transfer flight which was late to touch down. And we are up on the air as soon all the passengers are in check. I went into sleep mode since earlier i got to get up during wee hours. After about an hour of flight, we touched down on Langkawi Airport. Finally we arrived !!! Syok sendiri ^^
Excited Pals
Proceed into the collection belts for our baggage while Kim made a few calls to get us transport to move around Langkawi island. It seems like weekends are harder to get rental cars and the options are lesser too. Luckily we managed to get a 1.6 Sentra as our transport. Too bad Adrian was not here, or else he can test drive the Sentra all he wanted as he is interested on Sentra lol. Kim making some arrangements
Loaded our baggage onto the Sentra and it has adequate room for 5 person. By using a combination of past experience of being here before, GPS and also free maps distributed at the exit of the airport. We found our way to the nearest Petro Station to refill the tank. Then first stop would be Kuah Town for some heads up shopping for some snacks, beverages and also some alcohols for later xDPlaza TSH (Teo Soon Huat) which resides on the same building as Mary Brown and also Hotel Langkasuka, is a recommendable spot for bargain chocolates and alcohols. We too went into the rows of shop lots to survey around for better bargains too. Try survey around, may get some really surprising bargains.
Loading baggage to Sentra
After some quick shopping, everyone’s stomach are complaining. We drove around for some food and ended up at Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall which is a few clicks away from Kuah town. And for lunch, we had McDonalds again xD. It seems like McD was the cheapest among all the eateries in the Mall, while we decided not to waste time driving around again. Everyone agreed to settle in for McD, plus the prices are cheaper without any tax!!! And its McValue Lunch time too lol. Sentra Interior
Alcohol paradise^^
Continued our journey to another side of the island known as Cenang Beach where Awana Porto Malai is situated. Earlier we made some reservations there and are due to the Check-in time. The roads on Langkawi are actually quite straight forward, we managed to find our way to the resort entrance. Welcomed with a long hallway where artificial rain were poured to the roof tiles of the walk path, streaming down to the side ponds full of fishes along both sides of the walk path. A real nice touch imo on the artificial rain sprinklers. Lobby lounge
Mingled with the reception counter and found out that the actual time to check in is 3pm. The reception personnel that tried to make it earlier for us to enter the rooms as we were actually about an hour earlier. We waited at the hotel lobby for about 20mins, our rooms are ready for our deployment. Everyone of us retired to bed after we got our baggage unpacked. It is kinda tiring since all of us were up on wee hours earlier.Hitam itu Gaya, Bermutu ^^
But that did not stop us from roaming around Awana Porto Malai. Like curious tourists we are, David, SP and me was awake early and decided to explore around Awana and then found our ways to the swimming pools. Three of us had to sort to pools for some water splashing since Awana Porto Malai doesn’t actually has a sand beach. We retreated back to our rooms and got ourselves cleaned up getting ready for dinner. Kim bought us to a Thai Restaurant along the road of Jalan Pantai Chenang. The surroundings were made from bamboo making it like an average bamboo hut with warm lights all round. The menu there were truly Thai inspired, even the music played were in Thai. We just ordered what we came across the menu, and Tom Yam soup is a must when coming across Thai cuisine. And as expected, their Tom Yam is very spicy and hot!!! Too bad, no pictures were taken as we let our hungry stomachs to do the thinking.

Porto Malai boardwalk
We travelled down along the Jalan Pantai Chenang. The stretched road after the Underwater world was so alive. Filled with shops ranging from selling cloths, souvenirs, groceries, cafes, internet cafes, tour services and much more. Generally it is like a nightmarket along the shoulders of the road. We went there for a mission, that is to arrange some tours for Day2 in Langkawi. In the end, we opt for Island Hopping and Eagle Feeding Tour only as others may take up to a day. Our time is abit limited since this was just a 3D2N trip. We walked along the Pantai Cenang shores and also the markets before driving back to Porto Malai Resort. Back at our hotel rooms, everyone started to be lazy again. It seems like the beds there are really nice to sleep on. Everyone started to sink into bed again xD. David and i woke up and decided to hit the board walk at Porto Malai with some beers and snacks. EJ was not feeling too well and SP was too agitated by his dreamland. After a while, Kim joined us on the board walk. We drank some beers and snacks, enjoyed the peaceful and quiet night. We retreated back to our rooms, and retired onto our beds abit drunk and blur.
And that's the end for Day1
