National Science Centre :: Pusat Sains Negara

It was a nice Sunday, where the weather was lovely and skies are clear blue. Earlier, Adrian suggested a revisit to Pusat Sains Negara which sounds good to me. The plan is a total go, giving that it we last visit the place during our schooling days. Our curiosity sprouted and started confirming if other members are interested to tag in. Gathering point was at Adrian's house about 11am. As usual, BBB style we started our journey at about 11.45am instead. The initial plan was to visit Pusat Sains Negara firsthand and then followed by lunch with Kim. Due to the delays, plans gone to a change by brunch dim sum at Tmn Connaught. Everyone woke up late and no time for breakfast earlier. xD

The time was already 12.30pm as we continued our journey to Pusat Sains Negara which was situated at the foot hill of Bukit Damansara. After a few turns and twist between a few variations of highway, the dome-like structure was within sight. Parking space was plenty and it was free of charge. Spotted souvenir shops and also a corner with aquariums filled with small fishes after the entrance. The most notable was the Nemo fish. Alongside was a collection of pinned up butterflies and also some insects.

As reference from the official website.

The entrance fee was RM6 Adult and RM3 Children, but to our surprise the admission was free. We reconfirm with the front desk and it was true, considering ourselves lucky as it was free admission for all of us. At the same time, there was also Davinci The Genius Exhibition being held for a limited period from 1st Oct 2009 till 1st Jan 2010. Unlike the normal galleries, a whooping of rm25++ was required as admission fee. As interested as we are to Davinci's creations, the hefty admission just doesn’t motivate us enough to get the admission tickets.

The entrance was certainly intriguing with the Aquarium gallery. A half oval shaped walkthrough aquarium filled with various tropical and fresh water fish. The feeling was great as though we were surrounded undersea virtually speaking lol.

After the walkthrough, it was the Environmental Odyssey that showcases local vegetations and also figurine animals. Kim decided to slot in halfway as we cant seem to be on time for our planned luncheon.

Ancient Desktop spotted!!!

After that was the Pathway to Science which shows some fun facts on science and then followed by Amazing Spiders corner which exhibits details and facts of various spiders.

Then at the center of the dome lies the Children Educational Centre gallery where it was intended for children explore the universe in the "space lab" or the depth of the ocean to expand their creativity.

There were more galleries on upper floor. Up we go walking the curved pathway slowly taking us up. Surprisingly the recently launched hybrid car Toyota Prius was being displayed on the upper floors; there were details and history on how the hybrid car came to from concept to real life. Too bad the Prius was locked, no chance to feel the interior though.

Upper levels were occupied with the Davinci The Genius Exhibition which we can't enter without admission tickets. TechnoMal was next and it is a testimony section to Malaysian's achievements in science and technology. There were two Proton Waja parked at the entrance. One fully equipped while the other is stripped to bare metal. Again! Similar to the Prius, the fully equipped car is locked.

Waja 2000 top model !!! xD

As we venture into the gallery, it is inter-connected with other galleries such as Digital Lifestyle and also Future World gallery. Digital Lifestyle expresses the lifestyle of today's modern society. Everything is easy, fast, and interactive while Future World demonstrates a series of possible future advanced technologies.

Mafia David !!!

To wrap it up, we have noticed that there are actually a few more galleries that was still in upgrade progress especially i noticed one of the galleries with dinosaurs and etc xD. Other galleries at upper level as i suspected was dismantled to make way for the Davinci Genius Exhibition instead. Overall it was a good experience, reminiscing and refreshing our rusty science knowledge. The most disappointing part was much of the items displayed were poorly maintained or was faulty. Hopefully a major overhaul could be done as to benefit the future generations.

It was about 4pm when we decided to bid farewell to the National Science Centre. Lunch was far delayed from our schedule yet motivated by our hungry stomachs. Went over to Old Asia Cafe at 1Utama for a lunch+dinner combo.

Ji Chen decided to join us for dinner, she didnt join us for the trip earlier was due to her work. Finished out dinner and parted, my bad for not snapping pictures during the dinner session. I think i was letting my stomach to do the thinking. Pardon me xD
