:: no lantern and mooncakes intended ::
It was Mid Autumn Festival, but there was no plans being detailed for the celebration. As most of us are either occupied with family gatherings or dinners, we decided to spare that little time at the end of the day for a Mid Autumn TT (Teh Tarik session). The time was 10pm and gathering venue would be Kim aka SpeedMaster's place. As usual, everyone started coming after 10pm, which seems to be a trend for BBBs' to be late. xD
The buffer timeframe was about an hour, we waited until around 11pm and decided to head out to nearest mamak. An original BBB member was spotted this time, it was Soon Peng and also tagging along was SP's beloved Stacy (Maybe to check on SP lol). Havent seen him for a while though.
First item on the list was to interrogate SP's whereabouts. Got to know that SP and Tracy went on a trip to Taiwan earlier hence the MIA for a while. Luckily the duo brought us some gifts from their trip, excluding SP from being 'persecuted' ^^
Taiwan is somewhat popular with various pastries, one of these were the prominent pineapple short cake. We were sample testing a few different flavours of pineapple short cake courtesy from SP. The texture of the pastry is different to our pineapple tart so it is a must try if you're going over to Taiwan. Moreover it has various flavours compared to our local ones.
There is another Taiwan local specialty which SP presented. It is called 阿婆铁蛋(direct translation would be Grandma's Iron Egg) which actually is preserved egg. This Danshui Old Street popular specialty last about 3months from it's packing date. I reckon that the name iron egg comes from the egg white which after preserved has become crystal dark instead, this layer is kinda tough to chew on.
Guess what other souvenirs SP bring along. It is a purple box, but none of us know what is it until we popped open the box. It was actually a box of face mask, yup i have heard that mask sold at Taiwan was very common(even their 7-11 are selling them) and the price was quite affordable with many varieties.
Click below for more details, it seems that they are doing free postage to Malaysia and Singapore too.
In the meantime, Kim treated us to a bag of Crispy Dried Pork knowing that all of us are Pork lovers. This is like the keropok version of the normal dried pork (Bakkwa aka Yok Gon), and easily all of us wallop the whole bag during the TT.
Notice there were no pictures on the TT ? Pardon me as I was abit drunk earlier and did not bother to take any pictures.
Attendance: Adrian, David, Ej, Jason, Kim aka Taki aka SpeedMaster, Wah, SP and Stacy
